So THIS if my failed attempt at a braid out. I have very fine hair and this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME.

THIS IS BIG Y'ALL!!!!!! MY OLDEST DAUGHTER WHO IS 16YRS OLD HAS DECIDED TO GO NATURAL!!!!!!
Ok am I having a proud mommy moment, YUP! I am so happy. I know her hair will be thick, full and beautiful. She has a tightly coiled texture (I think a 4 not sure the # yet). My baby was teased all the time as a youngster about her hair and requested perms all the time. If it wasn't permed it was braided in some style or another to cover up what she had growing underneath.
She cut her hair short this past spring break wanting to get it healthier BUT she permed it. Her hair is growing really fast and she has seen the coils of her new growth popping through. She is wondering, like I am, what she would look like with her hair in it's natural state. Right now she has it braided. She's keeping it under wraps for at least 6 months to a year, until she gets a good amount of hair under there and then she'll start cutting off the permed ends. SHE'S TRANSITIONING! This is major for her! She even told her best friend she was doing it. My daughter is a very popular girl at school. I wonder what the reaction will be when she lets her hair loose. She told me she didn't care what people might say. Luckily she has the confidence to pull it off and I am so proud of her!

This is me last week. My hair looking a HOT MESS!
I am currently flat-ironed. I have said to myself before that I wasn't going to do it again because the last two times I did it I had some heat damage. just a few strands of hair that refused to curl back up. Both times before I used a heat protection spray and I blow dried and flat ironed. Yeah I know too much heat! So I did not blow dry my hair I puled it back into a pony tail and braided the ends to let it air dry overnight. Then I put the heat protection spray on my hair and then flat ironed it. I tried to go over only 2 times and that was it. I am on day 5 in the very humid South Carolina heat and my edges are DONE! I'm just pulling it back right now and will probably wash my hair on Sat.
Why did I do it? I was getting tired of my hair. I am getting tired of my hair. I have been on the you.tu.be. looking for new ways to do it but I think I've settled on the half-wig thing. I'm going to braid my hair down and get a cute bob-ish half and slam it on the back. Gives that braided down front and slick cut back look. I need to give my hair a rest for a few weeks. maybe I'll miss it.

Fro-Hawk Update!
I was not feeling the earlier hair do right. So you know I wet my hair and decided to see what it would look like. I added Garnier leave in conditioner sleek-n-shine to slip, a quarter size amount of Garnier curly gel and a dime size of the Garnier Putty. Ok here's the pics!

All dry in the back the ringlets are defined and me likey!
The top is longer and the curls have become waves.
I guess I'll figure it out one of these days.
Natural Hair Rules
Last night I had this great idea that I wanted a Fro-Hawk. So I asked my daughter to braid up the sides for me. She did and she two strand twisted my hair and then pin curled them up over night so they wouldn't come loose. I tied my hair down and when I got up this morning I was surprised that I didn't have a head ache. I have pictures y'all!
Ok this is me straight after face wash, teethed brushed and doo ragged up. I was still sleepy.
This is my side braided up tightly and you can see the pin curled two strand twists. I removed all the pins to get ready to unravel this and see how it turned out!
This is the untwisting of the pin curls and the twists. As you can see the top of my head the hair is finer. It lacks curl definition it's just wavy. Which is why I didn't just wet and go. I thought the two strand twist might give me some volume.
I added some shine before I pulled everything apart.
So this is the back. I'm not loving it so far. It makes my hair seem frizzier then usual. The twists don't look like they work for someone with fine hair. I've watched many videos on you-tube but most of the ladies have had thicker textured hair. I will try this look again but with a dry two strand and see how that holds up.
Well here is the final look. I beat my face and puffed it up. Again the front is long and a totally different texture then the back and you can clearly see it here. It's thinner and fluffier where as the back is denser and the curl is more defined.
Hope you enjoyed my experiment. I just wanted to try something new. I kinda like it now that it's all done. I will probably just wet and air dry my hair the next time because the two strand twists really lack the curl definition that I like. Maybe when it gets much longer it will look better. We'll see!

I Am Not My Hair
Chrisette Michele decided to let it all go. Could you cut it all off? I did. Not this short but I had about 1//2 inch of hair on my head. When my hair was wet you could see my scalp. Some folks were shocked that I just took the clippers myself one day and just did it. One day I had hair touching my shoulders and the next day I was bald. Well damn near close to bald. I thank God I have a small head. It's not that people hated it, well if they did they said nothing to me about it, they just were in shock. Like I cared. I was free y'all. No more curling irons, flat irons, hell even blow dryers. I love not having to worry about it. Other then coloring it. I'm not ready for the grays yet.
Back to Chrisette. I love this look on her! You can see the strength of her face. Beautiful!
