Should older people stay in the work force until the age of 70?
"House Minority Leader reignited the debate over Social Security this week by saying that the retirement age, now 65, will have to be raised to 70 to save the system. Boehner, who will be in a position to drive Congress' agenda as House speaker if Republicans take control in November, also said benefits should be reduced or eliminated for retirees with significant income."

Ok so I'm working on this good ol'Fathers Day menu. Yes I know I should have had it already done but dang it I was working on his gift yesterday and I was tired as hell afterward. I wasn't going anywhere but to sleep. Here's what I've come up with so far.
Grilled Ham - yes I'm putting a already cooked ham on the grill and topping with a brown sugar/bourbon glaze.
Sweet Potatoes - one of his fav's.
........ and I'm kinda lost after that??? He loves a broccoli salad so I will try my best to make it (1st time ever)
So if you have ANY SUGGESTIONS please let me know. I have to keep it at minimal carbs cause hubby has diabetes.
Tell Me ....
Be honest!!!!
Do you envy ?
If you do.
Do you think it turns into jealousy or does it motivate you to step your game up?

What About Your Friends

QUESTION??If you had a friend who has been in your life off and on for about 13 yrs.
To you they are more like a sister.
For no reason given just stops talking to you, no big argument, just stops talking to you.
How would you react?
Now the thing is you have gone through this with this friend on several occasions throughout the friendship and you are always the one who extends the hand of reconciliation as far as trying to maintain the relationship. You call to see why or what happened to them to make them stop talking to you.
Do you do it again or do you leave it be? Would you call it being stubborn or just being tired?
I feel like this. If I have been there for you for many, many years through all your UPS and your DOWNS, I would expect at least a reason as to why you stopped talking to me. I guess for me I feel like I would be begging you to be "my friend" if I am the one constantly coming to you and asking "What's wrong now? or What did I do now?"
YOU KNOW.....
I am just too damn old for this. It's tiring. It shouldn't be THIS hard to be friends. RIGHT? If you are my friend the way you say you are you should just say what's on your mind and not have people wondering what they did wrong. It's not fair to them.
So when they get tired and are done with playing the game it doesn't make then less of a friend nor does it make the friendship null and void. It just means you as the 'cutter offer' may need to stop with that and be a complete friend and speak your mind. If you are having a bad week. Just say so. If you need some space. Just say so. If they did something to piss you off. JUST SAY SO!
So 'cutter offer' I say call the person you cut out and apologize. That's my opinion.
Tell Me ....
Cheese or Pepperoni?
What kind of wine goes with pizza? Hmmmmm it will be Moscato for me tonight!
Tell Me ....
Are you creative?
What is it that you like to do?
Scrapbooking, card making, pottery, soap or candles.
Will you be making something for mom on Mothers Day?

Tell Me ....
If your S/O came to you and asked you if they could give your old cell phone to a "friend from work". Would you question who the friend was?
If you asked who the friend was and they got all defensive.
You mention that they seem very defensive and that you only asked for a name.
Which you still hadn't gotten yet.
You only asked because you've heard several of his friends being mentioned from work cause he's always talking about something stupid they did.
You figured it was on of them and would have no problem helping them out.
But now he can't quite remember the name of the girl he's going to give YOUR old phone to.
Ah he spits out a name.
Finally.
Never heard that one before but they are a "friend" from work.
Now all of this was going on while you still laying in bed half sleep with crust in your eye.
Do you find the behavior a tad bit odd? Does it make your Spidy Senses go off? Do you question further?
If you asked who the friend was and they got all defensive.
S/O - "Oh it's just a friend from work who dropped THEIR phone and THEY knew I had sprint and THEY asked me if I had another phone I could give THEM. Because having a old phone would be cheaper then buying a new one. SHE asked and I said let me see if my wife will give you her old phone"
You - "Who just randomly asks if you have a extra phone? Who is it? (you did catch he said she)
S/O - "Why does it matter? I gave your cousin a phone" (cousin is male)
No name was given. Hmmm. Your gut is starting to turn.

What's the greatest gift you've ever given for mothers day? What's the best gift you've ever been given?
I'll Sleep when I'm dead!
I have the hardest time getting to sleep. When I do go to sleep it's either because I drank a few glasses of wine (this ones my favorite) or I do nothing and it's crack-o-dawn in the morning before my eyes close or I have to take a sleeping pill.
I blame military life. I grew up with a parent in the military. Then I joined up and my sleep pattern got even more messed up. Then I blame my children. YES I said my kids. Infants allow for a jacked up sleeping pattern too. Who else can I blame????? Oh I know my hubby and his SNORING! Lawd I HAVE to be knocked the hell out in order to get some sleep. I have tried everything over the counter to make it stop but nothing works. I'm all for lobbing it off! Funny thing ... he doesn't agree. So we are at a stalemate.
What do you do to get to sleep? How do you stop the snoring?

So today I'm kinda in chill mode. I'm reworking my resume after the Staffing Agency gave me some pointers to perk it up. Mind you I haven't had to do one in the last 6 yrs. So after I do that I'll send it out to a few postings I've seen on-line. I went to Craigs List, hey they have job posting too, but I am feeling a little iffy about sending off my resume with personal info to god knows who. Can you say STALKER ....
I guess I'm too paranoid or maybe not.

I feel like I'm doing nothing. I just don't know. I'm frustrated. I know it hasn't been a week yet ... tomorrow will be a week but I feel like I should have heard something by now. I know it's a different job market now so it may take a little longer than before. So I play the waiting game.
I guess I'll work on my domestication skills. For all who don't know iHate cleaning. If I could hire a maid to clean I would but since I haven't the job or money I guess I'll have to do it myself. Spring cleaning time is here and now I have time to do it. I need to shampoo my furniture, really scrub my hard woods and lord knows I need to get at my closet. I just need to moving. Right?? Am I wrong for taking a day to just chill out?

Is it the answer to the Tea Party Movement?

350 Coffee Parties Bring a Change in Flavor
By Ole Ole Olson
NEWS JUNKIE POST

Thousands of Americans turned out today for the launch of the Coffee Party, a political movement whose goal is to facilitate a more responsive dialogue between people on how to move the country forward. It was held in over 350 locations and has could potentially reignite the movement for change and reform that was so pivotal over the last two election cycles.
What is the Coffee Party movement? According to the mission on their website:
The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.
The first Coffee Party Day had folks meet up in coffee shops across the nation. The large groups then broke down into small discussion groups. Issues that they found important were discussed, such as the economy, health care, jobs, and immigration. One man was quoted, “We may disagree, but we must not be disagreeable.”
In a sharp contrast to the Tea Party movement, members are asked to take the following civility pledge:
As a member or supporter of the Coffee Party, I pledge to conduct myself in a way that is civil, honest, and respectful toward people with whom I disagree. I value people from different cultures, I value people with different ideas, and I value and cherish the democratic process.
The Coffee Party appears to be gathering steam quickly. The website has received hundreds of thousands of page views. A page on Facebook was started last month, and has exploded to nearly 150,000 fans.
http://www.facebook.com/coffeeparty?v=wall
The Guardian reports about an expanded mission statement taken from the Facebook page:
Anyone who wants our government to function in the interest of ordinary Americans, not corporations, is welcome to join this movement. We believe that the majority of Americans are regular folks like us, and some of us have been misled into thinking that the federal government is the cause of our struggles, our anxiety and our fear. In short, our government has been presented to us as our enemy.
Annabel Park, the movements founder responded to a question on NPR about the historical precedent and context: “After they dumped tea into [Boston] Harbor, the Continental Congress declared coffee to be the national drink, and that became the solution to the problem. So we associate coffee with both solutions and working very hard for representation.”
On CNN’s American Morning, Park expanded on the goals of the movement.
“Just like in the American Revolution, we are looking for real representation right now. We don’t feel represented by our government right now, and we don’t really feel represented well by the media either,. It’s kind of a simple call to action for people to wake up and take control over their future and demand representation,” she said. “And it requires people standing up and speaking up.”
Photos are streaming in today. There are a couple good hubs at Flickr and Facebook.
For those unable to attend the meet and greet in person today, there was an alternative. A virtual coffee shop meeting was held today at 4:00 pm Central Time. However, registration was suspended due to an overwhelming response, and even those who got in weren’t able to stay for long because the system crashed due to the huge chat load.
350 meetings were held across the country, and there are hundreds more planned on March 27th.
JUST MY OPINION:
I haven't read their site yet cause I'm at work but if you know about it or have heard about tell me more. But from what I'm reading it sounds like they are trying to be the voice of reason for folks who are feeling bullied by the Tea Party people.
I'm all for your right to free speech. Hell I joined the military to protect it. So when you try to force you views down my throat and then call me a socialist when I don't agree with how YOU think things should be done ..... hmmm isn't that called a dictatorship?
Unfortunatly, if your message was one that I could tolorate it's been dumbed down by all the crazies you allow at the rallies you hold. My mama said "looks like they going to go lynch someone" WOW powerful statement. She would know.
Anywho .... Tell me what you think?

As I've gotten older I look back at the way my life has unfolded. Most of it I am happy with the outcome. some of it I wonder if I made the right decisions. I feel like I'm not where I should be. So now that the kids are older, hell I got one about to go off to college, I am ready to make a life change for myself and my family.
Treading water is getting old! Time to move on and blaze a new trail. Who knows it could be the best thing for all of us and well we won't know until we try. I think it would be a fun new adventure. Hubby on the other had I'm not so sure he feels that way. I know he's ready to do something different but HOW different IDK. He is a creature of habit. Nuff said. So I will keep you posted and we'll see how it goes.

Do you work well with others? I like to think I do. I'm sure other might disagree. Ha!
I am helpful to a point because you know people will take advantage of your kindness.
There in lies my problem. I have co-workers who just think because they have been here many years longer they have some sort of authority over me. Now I seem to recall being hired to do the same job you do. Your many years mean nothing to me cause we are on even ground in this position. So why is it that folks want to get their panties in a bunch when you put them back in there place. I do just as much work ... if not MORE cause people loooove giving me EXTRA PROJECTS to do like I don't have enough to do already.
Any who ....
Tell me about your work environment. Do you love what you do? Do you get along with your co-workers/boss?
