Working It Out

I took a few days off but I'm back!  I was feeling depressed .... deep down in the gutter depressed.  I'm crying at the Publix Store commercials y'all.  I still have days of doom and gloom but I am determined not to let them take hold of me.  I've been keeping active around the house and running my mom here and there.  Hey playing taxi gets me out the house.

I haven't really been sending out my resume as much as I feeling like I should.  I've done it here and there but surprise surprise there aren't many postings for what I do.  So I'm looking at moving into the banking arena.  Hey it's about the same credits/debits yeah I got that.  So we'll see how it goes.

I must say I have kinda enjoyed my time off a little bit especially since I won't have my two weeks vacation.  I hate that I have to start all over again.  I was coming up on getting my 3 weeks vacation.  THIS SUCKS!!!  I get texts from my old manager telling me she misses me.  Yeah  ....  NOT HELPING!  LOLOLOL but I know why she says that.  So let me get to e-mailing and filling out applications on-line.  Looks like many jobs have gone to the on-line applications process these days.

I LOVE THIS and I'm going to get me one for every bathroom and the kitchen!!
And I read that you can remove the top of the dispenser and put your own soap in it instead of buying the Lysol brand soap refills.  Yup I would rather by a big bottle of the Lavender Soft Soap and refill.  That's what I do with the push ones now.  YAAAAY ME!!!

What I did today.

So today I'm kinda in chill mode.  I'm reworking my resume after the Staffing Agency gave me some pointers to perk it up.  Mind you I haven't had to do one in the last 6 yrs.  So after I do that I'll send it out to a few postings I've seen on-line.  I went to Craigs List, hey they have job posting too, but I am feeling a little iffy about sending off my resume with personal info to god knows who.  Can you say STALKER ....
I guess I'm too paranoid or maybe not.

I feel like I'm doing nothing.  I just don't know.  I'm frustrated.  I know it hasn't been a week yet ... tomorrow will be a week but I feel like I should have heard something by now.  I know it's a different job market now so it may take a little longer than before.  So I play the waiting game.

I guess I'll work on my domestication skills.  For all who don't know iHate cleaning.  If I could hire a maid to clean I would but since I haven't the job or money I guess I'll have to do it myself.  Spring cleaning time is here and now I have time to do it.  I need to shampoo my furniture, really scrub my hard woods and lord knows I need to get at my closet.  I just need to moving.  Right??  Am I wrong for taking a day to just chill out?

Can I Just Tell You?

Today, we hear from Tell Me More guest host Allison Keyes.
This week we're going to talk about hair. To touch — or not to touch, that is the question.
And as far as I'm concerned the answer is nearly always, no.
OK — let me explain why this really annoys me.
I'm African-American, and I wear my hair natural. That means in an Afro, or in twists, or some other style that showcases my kinky hair in the tight curls in which it grows from my scalp. It is not chemically straightened. In other words — think India.Arie — NOT Beyonce!
And for the past few weeks, I've been rocking an Afro puff: a round fluffy puff perched atop a braided or twisted up-do. It is fierce!
And I must admit — the texture does look inviting to touch. But walking up and palming my puff?! Particularly without permission? Can I Just Tell YOU — speaking colloquially — that is not cool.
I think it is a race issue — as well as a personal space issue. The space issue seems obvious. I see it as a violation as unwanted as those who approach pregnant women — hands out — and start rubbing their bellies.
The race issue is a little more tricky.
For example, I was walking one day recently, puff held high, when a white woman walked up and just grabbed it — cooing, "Oh that's so cute!"
Fighting back my impulse to grab her wrist, I simply stepped back and growled, "Don't touch my hair!"
She reared back, offended, "Well, I don't see what the big deal is!"
That response is exactly the problem.
In what realm of reality is it OK to walk up to a person and — without her permission — lay your hands on her body?
I took a look around Google, wondering about the basis for this distaste that I and many other African-Americans have to acquaintances, co-workers or — most infuriating — strangers, just walking up and grasping away.
On blog after blog, black women railed about the rudeness of folk just walking up and touching their hair.
On another site, womanist-musings.com, in an article called "Can I Touch Your Hair? Black Women and The Petting Zoo," the author noted, "Today white people still feel that they have the right to our bodies." She went on to say, "My blackness and your curiosity does not give you the right to touch me."
Let's have a reality check here. For hundreds of years, whites had permission to do anything they wanted to black people, and that includes things far worse than touching our hair.
Even now, there are still those pesky signs of disrespect, like a white person calling a woman old enough to be their grandmother by her first name. Is it because she's black and therefore doesn't deserve the respect of a title? Don't both acts send a signal that black people are still objects to be treated as one pleases — all without said object's permission?
One Web site actually suggested that blacks try humor or self-deprecation to assuage the hurt feelings of the offended person who has just forcibly touched them. But I think, what you ought to do, is keep your hands outta my hair, unless I invite you to touch it. Whether it's a $1,000 hair weave, a 10-inch Afro or an Afro puff ... watch out! There could be a mousetrap in there — or worse!
That way, no one's fingers will be injured.

*** ALL I CAN SAY IS AMEN***
PLEASE TAKE HEED PEOPLE.  ASK BEFORE YOU TOUCH MY HAIR.  YOU MIGHT PULL BACK A NUB!!!!

What I did today.

I looked too cute today.  Sorry I didn't take a picture but I may have to put one up.  I just look GOOD in a suit.  I went to my meet and greet at the Temp. Agency and I think it went very well.  I have a feeling I will be getting a call soon.  I dropped off my paperwork to the old job.  I'm just glad I got a severance package.  Some people didn't even get that.

I stopped by Dre's job and we ate lunch together.  I love seeing him.  His schedule changed so now he's home nights.  YAAAY ME!

I took my oldest to go get her permit.  She was scared but I told her to just do it.  She's smart she'll be fine but she has test anxiety.  Thanks to me. Hahahahahaha.  So we go in and the DMV Meany stopped us in our tracks.

        DMV MEANY

DMV Meany: We need a state ID and proof of residency.
Me: She doesn't have a state ID.  How do I show HER proof of residence?
DMV Meany: Well then we'll need her SS card or passport or student ID and birth certificate and her progress report from school.
Me: What?
DMV Meany: We need her SS card/ Passport/ Student ID/ Progress report.
Me: Bria do you have a student ID.
Bria: No ma'am (I'm thinking why the hell don't they give out school ID's)
Me:  What do you need for the state ID?
DMV Meany: We need her SS card/ Passport and birth cert.
Me: WOW ... lets' go

BRIA=NO PERMIT

So we left I was getting peeved!  So we'll go Friday with all her documentation.  Good Grief!!!

How was your day?  What did you do?

The Hunt Begins

Today is such a gloomy day it really is not helping me FEEL like looking for a job.  I was hoping for sunny skies so I'd feel all ready to rock and roll. The BLAHS have taken over.
I did send my resume out to a few places.
I have an appointment with a staffing agency tomorrow.
I sent off my info for the unemployment office as well.
So I guess I did manage to get something done while STILL in the bed today.
Seriously I got to snap out of it.

I did all my girly things yesterday like dye my hair, pluck my brows and Nair my legs.  It doesn't help that I'll be feeling EXTRA all week either.  Ladies you know.   I just need to go out today and get me a white button up and some gray pumps.  Then my outfit will be complete.  Slap on a fake azz smile and I'll be retty-for-interview.  I really hate the interview process.  It feels like the people are judging you.  10 points for dress " her shoes matched her purse", 8 points for smile "it looks fake", 10 points for question and answer session "she seems smart", 4 points cause she didn't ask US any questions......

I'm tirppin.  I know.  Do you have any interview advise?  What to do?  What not to do?

Health Care Passes

MY HUSBAND WILL NO LONGER BE EXCLUDED FROM RECEIVING HEALTH INSURANCE BECAUSE HE HAS A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION!!!!

All Cried Out

I'm not quite over my pitty party just yet but "I'm All Cried OUT"...I am mourning the loss of this house and my job all at once.  It was a bit much to take.  I asked my hubby "why does it always happen?"  I mean we will get to a place where we are doing well here and something life changing will happen and mess us all up.

Several years back my husband was diagnosed with diabetes.  He was VERY sick and was out on short term disability for 3 months to recover.  He gets back to work and the co. he gave 10yrs to fires him after being back 30dys.  In those 10yrs he had NEVER received a bad review, never been written up.  He couldn't find a job.  The economy was tanking.

About 1yr later he finds a GOOD job working for D.E.L.L.
As their store manager.  He was feeling better about himself.  He was running thangs.  I was proud of him.  BUT after 15 months of having a store they close it down.  Poof no job.  He couldn't find a job.  The economy was in the crapper.

So I get a temp job while Dre was running his store.  It became perminate because I told them hubby lost his job I need the benefits of a full time job.  I need health insurance.  So they offered me the job and I took it.  As the economy and the housing market tanked they started letting people go.  It was mass layoffs.  I was the last hired so I figured they would chuck me.  I should have been looking then.  I made it through the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round.  I thought I had made it.  Then yesterday happened. 3/18/10.  I.WAS.LET.GO.

So all the house hunting and prep. must have been a test run for the real thing.  When ever that is. I am trying to keep my head up and press on.  ALL.MY.LIFE.I'S.HAD.TO.FIGHT!!!
And I'm going to keep on fighting.

Is it the answer to the Tea Party Movement?

ORIGINALLY POSTED BY

350 Coffee Parties Bring a Change in Flavor
By Ole Ole Olson
NEWS JUNKIE POST
Mar 13, 2010 at 8:14 pm

Thousands of Americans turned out today for the launch of the Coffee Party, a political movement whose goal is to facilitate a more responsive dialogue between people on how to move the country forward. It was held in over 350 locations and has could potentially reignite the movement for change and reform that was so pivotal over the last two election cycles.

What is the Coffee Party movement? According to the mission on their website:

The Coffee Party Movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government. We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will, and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges that we face as Americans. As voters and grassroots volunteers, we will support leaders who work toward positive solutions, and hold accountable those who obstruct them.

The first Coffee Party Day had folks meet up in coffee shops across the nation. The large groups then broke down into small discussion groups. Issues that they found important were discussed, such as the economy, health care, jobs, and immigration. One man was quoted, “We may disagree, but we must not be disagreeable.”

In a sharp contrast to the Tea Party movement, members are asked to take the following civility pledge:

As a member or supporter of the Coffee Party, I pledge to conduct myself in a way that is civil, honest, and respectful toward people with whom I disagree. I value people from different cultures, I value people with different ideas, and I value and cherish the democratic process.

The Coffee Party appears to be gathering steam quickly. The website has received hundreds of thousands of page views. A page on Facebook was started last month, and has exploded to nearly 150,000 fans.

http://www.facebook.com/coffeeparty?v=wall

The Guardian reports about an expanded mission statement taken from the Facebook page:

Anyone who wants our government to function in the interest of ordinary Americans, not corporations, is welcome to join this movement. We believe that the majority of Americans are regular folks like us, and some of us have been misled into thinking that the federal government is the cause of our struggles, our anxiety and our fear. In short, our government has been presented to us as our enemy.

Annabel Park, the movements founder responded to a question on NPR about the historical precedent and context: “After they dumped tea into [Boston] Harbor, the Continental Congress declared coffee to be the national drink, and that became the solution to the problem. So we associate coffee with both solutions and working very hard for representation.”
On CNN’s American Morning, Park expanded on the goals of the movement.

“Just like in the American Revolution, we are looking for real representation right now. We don’t feel represented by our government right now, and we don’t really feel represented well by the media either,. It’s kind of a simple call to action for people to wake up and take control over their future and demand representation,” she said. “And it requires people standing up and speaking up.”

Photos are streaming in today. There are a couple good hubs at Flickr and Facebook.

For those unable to attend the meet and greet in person today, there was an alternative. A virtual coffee shop meeting was held today at 4:00 pm Central Time. However, registration was suspended due to an overwhelming response, and even those who got in weren’t able to stay for long because the system crashed due to the huge chat load.

350 meetings were held across the country, and there are hundreds more planned on March 27th.

JUST MY OPINION:
I haven't read their site yet cause I'm at work but if you know about it or have heard about tell me more.  But from what I'm reading it sounds like they are trying to be the voice of reason for folks who are feeling bullied by the Tea Party people.
I'm all for your right to free speech.  Hell I joined the military to protect it.  So when you try to force you views down my throat and then call me a socialist when I don't agree with how YOU think things should be done ..... hmmm isn't that called a dictatorship?
Unfortunatly, if your message was one that I could tolorate it's been dumbed down by all the crazies you allow at the rallies you hold.  My mama said "looks like they going to go lynch someone"  WOW powerful statement.  She would know.

Anywho .... Tell me what you think?

The Madison -UPDATED!!!!!!!

What the front of MY house will look like!
This is what my house WAS going to look like.  As of today I am like many in America .....  UNEMPLOYED!  I am in shock!  I am going to have my pitty- party.  Then I'm going to get on the grind again.  This is just a dream DEFERRED.  I will own this!

I honestly never thought this day would happen. APPARENTLY IT'S NOT GOING TOO.  I have dreamed about owning my own home ever since I got married in '95.  BUT as a young couple starting out, with two babies  and two sucky ass jobs it wasn't going to happen.

We have been renting for 12 yrs now, yeah I know  =l  LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A FEW MORE YEARS.

We have had a few opportunities to purchase mobile homes or modular homes and place it on the land we live on now but it never seemed to work out.  Which was good because we have had some financial setbacks.  Pregnancy, job loss, illness and lastly FEAR.  All of these things have prevented us from moving forward.  AND NOW MY CURRENT JOB LOSE IS PREVENTING US FROM MOVING FORWARD! SSHHHHEEEESH WE JUST CAN'T CATCH A BREAK!

We realized that this time, RIGHT NOW, was the best time for us to do it. SCRATCH THAT NOW IS NOT THE BEST TIME!  We are not afraid.  I am so proud of us.  We have worked really hard to get our financial house in order.  Now the fruits of our labor are being realized.  AND HAVE NOW BEEN SNATCHED OUT MY HAND.

You know my crazy behind is going to be posting pictures of the construction right?  I'm straight scrap-booking this whole event.  *** Speaking with a straight face***  PppppsSssT  TASHA I'm gonna need your Circut ASAP!!  GUESS YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT POSTAGE.

I will want to look back at it, I'm sure, because right now it's so hard to REALLY enjoy this process.  Awe I'm kinda getting emotional y'all.  THIS PART IS TRUE.  RIGHT NOW IT IS TAKING EVERYTHING IN ME NOT TO JUST GIVE UP.  I FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN KICKED IN THE GUT!  I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN THE DISAPPOINTMENT MY CHILDREN ARE FEELING AND LORD KNOWS THAT IS KILLING ME.  WHICH IS WHY I WILL NOT GIVE UP.  I MAY MISS THE TAX CREDIT BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I STILL CAN'T GET A HOUSE IT JUST MEANS I WILL HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE WHILE LONGER.

I am on cloud 9 right now.  We have foud it.  Our new home.  Our 1st house.  This is a blessing indeed and I am so so so greatful to all my family and friends for the support shown.  I will keep you updated as we proceed.

House Hunting - My Realtor Got To Go!

So my house hunting experience is pretty good with a few minor exceptions like ....  I am highly stressed, my face is breaking out like I'm 13 again and  I don't really like the Realtor I chose.  So thankfully my wonder-hubby was there to save the day and keep me from going all ape sh*t on HER azz.

DO NOT STAND ME UP!!
DO NOT CALL ME LIKE I SAID A DIFFERENT TIME!

Twich please you know your azz came at the wrong time.  I HATE when people f-up and try to turn that ish on you by acting like you told them wrong info.  HELL NAW playa.  Ex to the next!  Somebody else just might get that commission buddy.  Besides Dre and I have done 90% of the work anyway.  So I think it's time we part ways.

My co-worker has a dude she worked with.  She likes him.  I may give him a call today!

If you've bought a home.  How was your buying experience?  Did you like the Realtor?  Does it even matter?  Should I cut her loose or just roll on and let the heffa get a commission.

Cup of Coffee Ramblings

OOOOH MMMMM GEEEEE ...  I saw some beautiful houses yesterday.

Man I know folks who would be perfect for some of these homes.  Too bad we don't really talk like that anymore.

I even think I found a couple I like and well the numbers will tell the tale.  I am just in awe at how fast the procedure goes.  I just thought it would be all this paper work but everyone says wait until the closing.

I'm overwhelmed!

I am soooo HAPPY!

My feeling of overwhelm-ness was wiped away by having Dre with me.  His being there just calmed me down and I enjoy the time we send together.

Because of his work schedule I was meeting the Realtor and getting the ground work done.

I was extremely exhausted.

Did I mention I was SOOOO HAPPY!

I'm so glad he will be back on day shift the end of this month!  I miss him!

My hubby has this nack for making friends with people who love to help him or as I call it picking up strays.  So the guy at work is trying to move him into another position with higher pay.

Me, I kinda find it weird about it but hey if it gets him in a better position who am I to question it!

My moms been out here for the weekend.  She helped the little ones pack up their room .... THANK YOU MOM!

I have to pack the office, my bed room, pack up ALL of my scapbooking stuff and lord I really need to clean out my closet.

My oldest made me my coffee like she does ever weekend for me.  I LURVE MY GIRL!

Hubby made breakfast!  GO BOOBIE!

I am on Overstock.com drooling over these chandlers.  I have always wanted one and I will be sure to put some in my new house.  Keep these in mind when looking for a house warming gift.

This is my all time favorite!  Retro and modern all in one.

This is my second favorite.  It has that old fashion feel to it. I like it!

This is a third choice of mine.  A beautiful mix of the two.

I was told by Ms De De that I COULD just buy them all.  I might just do that!
Which one do you like?  or Should I get them all?

House Hunting

Looking for a house is proving harder then I thought.  The ones I like are either under contract or short sales.  What's a short sale you may ask?  It sounds like it would be easier wouldn't it?  Well it's not!  It is home buying, contract holding up, bank red tape HELL!  WHY WHY WHY???? Some of the pretties homes I've seen are stuck in Short Sale Hell.  So I've got to be vigilant!!! Be on my toes and keep an eagle eye out. O_O
I just peeped a new listing on the MLS and emailed my Realtor ASAP!  Wooh I am exhausted!  Not to mention I really need to get a move on in the packing department.  So much to do and I am feeling the crunch.  Mind you I will be making NO decisions without the go ahead from Dre.  We have our parents blessings even if they were clenched teeth given.  So I feel really good about this and I am sure we'll fine "the one".

Lock .... Step

Just because you have Locks does not mean you are dirty or unclean.  There are products avail. to use you clean your hair.  I just had a white co-worker tell me how nasty they are because "you can't wash them, they are messy and you have to cut all your hair off to get them out".  See people making stereotypical generalizations when they don't know all the facts.
  1. I know for a fact there are several products out there that allow you to clean your locks and some people do wash them and tighten up the twists.
  2. There are waxes and other natural products you can use to keep your locks from fuzzing up.  It's up to the individual.  Some like them skinny and some like them big.
  3. I went natural and when I did .... I cut ALL my PERMED hair off.  When you don't want to color your hair anymore don't you have to cut out all the color?  So what is the difference.
So I guess Whoopie, Lenny Kravitz and countless others are just NASTY!  Every now and then your TRUE SELF will peek out.

2010: Year of the Tiger -- Overview - Astrology.com

Hot passion meets cold steel with the arrival of the year of the Metal Tiger. This combined sign signifies both the energy to begin activity and the determination to follow it through to the end. Forget about last year’s slow plodding. Events set in motion now will pick up speed and continue until either the objective is attained or the whole endeavor crashes and burns.
Bold, cold Metal rules in contrast to last year’s pragmatic, calculating Earth. This difference will be all the more dramatic as 2010 is a dynamic, Yang year. Metal’s Yang aspect is extremely aggressive and does not tolerate opposition.
Unfortunately Metal has a destructive relationship with the Tiger’s fixed element, Wood. In fact this is the fifth in a run of six years governed by an unlucky conflict of elements. This should come as no surprise given the recent history of US and world financial markets, massive numbers of foreclosures in the housing sector, and the terrible tragedy that is Iraq today.
The combination of Metal and Tiger is not, however, a totally negative one. Together they represent the kind of force necessary to accomplish the most difficult tasks. The impossible just might be possible during this exciting time.
Things that have needed to get done but were not due to some blockage will be done or at least see significant progress being made. On the other hand, some that probably should never even have been attempted will also go to completion. This is because the Metal Tiger is associated with a lemming mentality. The Norwegian story goes that, once a group of them starts moving across the fields, they will charge ahead and unthinkingly run straight off a cliff to their doom.
The point is now is the time to attack the most difficult issues you face. You have one of your best chances of achieving a breakthrough. On the other hand, if you still run into stiff opposition, you would do well to consider postponing your attempt to another time. You see, the same force that propels you forward is also with those opposing your efforts. Thinkers can prosper, but lemmings could experience serious setbacks.
Since this is a Metal year, those people born in an Earth one will generally fare better than others of their animal sign, while those born in a Wood one are likely to do worse. It’s also slightly negative for those born in a Fire year and mildly positive for Water sign people. Finally, those born in a Metal year will be in their element and do well if their animal sign is compatible with the Tiger but could run into lots of confrontations if not.
The only thing we can say for sure is the year 2010 will be a tumultuous one. This is true for individuals, societies and the human race in general. It’s perhaps a better time for knocking down walls than building them. People who thirst for adventure and can reign in their emotions could experience a thrilling and rewarding year. Those who seek peace and harmony might find themselves running for cover more than a few times. 2010: Year of the Tiger -- Overview - Astrology.com

Help!

Boy oh boy looking for a house is hard work!  I am mentally exhausted.  I mean I got e-mails flying from my broker and e-mails from my Realtor with MLS listings.  I hope we find something we can both agree on soon.  I'm pooped and going to soak and get to bed.  It's raining here and that's some good sleeping weather.

I have to disclose I am a Super Big Fan of Raheems so everything I say WILL be biast.  I have just about every mixed CD he's made.  I really like what this man has to say.  His music is sentually smooth and his voice is like some good old fashioned CHURCH cake.  It just makes you want more.  So when I say I am feeling his newest album Love War Masterpiece it would be an understatement. It is in heavy rotation in my car, MP3 and my celly. So I would advise everyone to pick this one up,  iTune it, download it, whatever you do just get it.  You'll love what he has to say.

A co-worker expressed anger when her son called his mother-in-law MOM.  So that got me to thinking and well it took me a long time to call my in-law MOM.  For me it wasn't because I disliked her or anything it was just because everyone called he by her nickname so I did too.
So my question is: Do you call your in-law MOM or DAD and does you parent get angry or upset when you do?

Damn it's early but rise and shine.  I awake with a new purpose and that's to get some dang coffee! Hahaha
I'm hungry so a small fruit bowl made of Apples and Oranges will do, for now.
Then my OatBran with some honey and maybe a handful of walnuts.  Yum.
I usually have it with peanut butter which is just as yummy.
I am learning how to do different things with it like adding Vanilla, Cinnamon and milk.  It's very healthy and high in fiber.  I use 1/3 cup of  oatbran and twice as much liquid.  The only place that it can be found here is at Whole Foods.  Thanks xTina for picking it up for me!  You should check her out on When Hungry Meets Healthy.

So as you know I have this fabu. painting from my good friend Julia house warming gift # 1.  Which is so colorful and so bright, like ME!  I love bright colors in my home.  Right now they are on my walls.  I have a lime-ish green to a bright orange in the current place I live and it works for me.  However, I think in the next place I will use color as an accent and not the whole focal point.  I am already decorating!  Yes, I know, big time jumping the gun.
I's excited y'all HELL let me have my fun.  You know how us girls are when it comes to our IMAGINATION.  All the possibilities out there!  SHOOT I can't turn my brain off.
I have dark brown wood living room table set which I love and I am going to stain my kitchen table dark brown as well so that will be my base color.  The sofa we have now is red and we will be keeping it because I like it.  I'll just get some pretty pillows to put on it.  The rest of the house will be empty.  I'm fine with that.  I'd rather have what I want in there anyway.
The point to this was nothing.  I am just excited! THAT.IS.ALL.

Divide and conquer. Start with something small, like yogurt, and eat a handful of almonds an hour or two later.
Make a fast break. When you're in a rush, grab a piece of string cheese for a dose of protein and some fruit for fiber and vitamins.
Treat yourself. Trade breakfast-prep duties with your partner to make it less of a chore.
Put it off. "If you just can't eat first thing, have an energy bar midmorning for fuel," Bowerman says. "Otherwise, you may overeat at lunch."

I've had to learn to EAT BREAKFAST.  It is the most important meal of the day!  I eat light because I just can't stomach anything heavy 1st thing in the morning.  My morning fav. is Oatmeal or OatBran because you can jazz it up anyway you want to.  So it's like eating something different everyday.  I get my fiber and fruit! Yum.  Give it a try you might like it!

What did you eat this a.m.?  Speak on it....

Vultures ......

I swear not even 72 hours and the VULTURES are out. I DO WHAT I WANT!!! WHEN I WANT!!! I will not be pressured by ANYONE!  How the hell do you know what I'm doing?  You sure as hell ain't my friend on FB.  So you must be a lurker on my blog.  I got no problem with that at all.  I know you're nosey.  You've never had shit to say to me before.  You think you are better than me.  You even thought you could tell me how I should run my household, no make that how I should take care of my husband.  Yeah that mess put you on my DO NOT TALK TO list.  Poof you don't exsist in my world.   Aha! but now I got something you want and now you want to make nicey-nicey.   UMMMMM NO!!!
Why is it you all in my grill crack-o-dawn?  I mean DAY.UUUM man!!  I haven't even had a chance to discuss it with my mother-in-law yet.  Back the hell up!!!!  We haven't even started yet!  When we decide what to do, I might let you know but until then STEP!!!  Besides everything is HER decision.  Stop being sneaky about it.

Do you have vultures around you?  How do you deal with them?

    Home Onwership

I am excited elated at the new I got yesterday.
So let me give you the back story 1st!

My husband and I have been trying to decide if we want to buy a house or move somewhere else and kinda start all over.  New city, new jobs, new people.  I was excited at the possibilities for us if we did.  I'm a half glass full kinda chick and my poor dear sweet hubby is a half glass empty kinda guy.  I love him but he can make "what if" suck the life and joy from something QUICK for me.  So after looking for some jobs and him seeing that he really needed to go back to school to get certified in some of the 'new technology' that has been developed since he graduated college we decided to stay put.  Not that I mind I'm just glad we figured it all out.

OK so now that you all are caught up ....

Friday 3/5/10 we went to the bank and applied for a loan.  Us not being sure what we'd hear, not being sure what the process is ... well we were a little nervous.  We are 1st time home buyers.  I was in the military and was told I qualified for a VA loan.  Mr. Bank Man loved hearing that but he needed to check some database and see if I did, for sure, qualify and how much money they would loan us.  OK .... so we left and now we wait for his call.
I was hungry.  I get hungry when I'm nervous.  I know bad habit.  So we are at the Waffle House, hubby's suggestion, and I get THE CALL.  I was APPROVED!!!  VA loan, 100% financing, NO P.I.M. and 5% interest! Wooo Hooo
He sent us the information and our PRE-APPROVAL LETTER (yes I'm hollering this was a big deal for me) and told us to get house hunting.

So off we go on the hunt.  THIS is my favorite part!  Not so sure about hubby but I know he's happy too.
Here we go y'all on this journey to home ownership.  You know I will keep you informed of all the good, bad and the ugly.

I am floating on air right now

    Linda Maravilhosa! Julia

I must show you all the beautiful painting my good friend Julia did for me. It is going to be the first thing I hang on the wall in my new home!  She has an awesome eye for the abstract and I am a BIG fan.  Now I like to consider myself a creative person and really wanted to learn some of her techniques.  Alas that is not to be *insert SAD face here*.  She is moving back home to Brazil.  I met Julia in Dec of 2008 in a drafty warehouse and we clicked instantly.  She is the sweetest person I know and I am sad to see her go.  I have my Skype downloaded and ready to be used.  Now all I need to get is some cool headphones .... SHOPPING!

So you know I am already trying to figure out how to get my but to Brazil ... soon right!  I will have to brush up on my portuguese:

    I Need an IKEA

I am a fan of Ikea and I really wish we had one here in Charleston.  Right now my favorite thing from them is this flooring.  I love this and if had a floor to re-do I would use THIS.  What is your favorite thing from Ikea?
